![]() ![]() So I will show you how to keep things silent in your Aquarium. My goal is to be as silent and turbulent free as possible. It Distracts from the peacefulness of an Aquarium. ![]() Do these dimensions look acceptable? If not what would you change? I based my design on the diagram that uncleof6 has floating around on here. These are some of the designs that I've been basing mine off of.Īnd here is a Cad drawing that I completed myself with my own actual sized side wall dimensions.ġ. Only reason why I would build the external box is to run a bean animal overflow but mainly cause its the quietest. I have looked into several people who have designs that have worked for them. I do not care so much for complete skimming as usual reefers desire, therefore, I'm going to mount the overflow on the side of the tank instead of along the back. So here comes the stuff that I have questions on. Herbie with a 1' full siphon and a 1.5' trickle/emegency. A coast-to-coast overflow would be great, but I cant seem to find one for < 150, which I just dont know that I want to stomach that. Going to be using schedule 80 bulkheads as this will be in a high flow traffic area of the house with kids one day. Beananimal with a long, shallow overflow with 3 drains: 1' full siphon, 1' trickle/open channel and a 1.5' emergency. This is planted once again so high flow is not necessary. Plan on using eheim 1260 pump as the return and 1" pvc pipe for the piping. I got one of those types of overflow boxes for my 40B but I built an external box to accommodate a bean animal style drain. If I had the choice I would go with an external overflow box for a tank that size and drill the tank. I plan on doing an external bean animal setup with a target goal of 600GPH +-50. The only thing I could complain about was the shadow the internal box caused. This pump has a 1 1/4' outlet and runs 1300 gph at 5 of head (2100 no head). The return bulkheads are 3/4' thread x thread with a 3/4' locline on the end. My next step is to get the plumbing for the main display squared away. open standpipes vented drains (Durso, Stockman etc.) siphon drains (Herbie, Bean) Open Standpipes An open pipe is as simple as it gets. The ghost overflow box bulkheads are 1' thread x slip with the slip part for easy removal of the overflow box standpipes. After much deliberation I've settled upon a sump design that is ideal for my planted needs and have already started setting it up: There are designs that address this problem. My main tank will be 60 gallons (36"L X 19"W X 20" H) and the sump will be the same size. Internal overflows can be noisy as the basic design has a standard open pipe that gurgles. Therefore, I'm going for a display sump combo. I'm a freshwater planted tanker, and my main goal is to make a more automatic tank for easier maintenance. That being said, I'm going to implement the system a little different from most people. I've been lurking for a while and have been researching the bean animal thread for quite some time and I have a pretty full grasp on how the whole setup works.
